On Saturday, March 19, from 9 a.m. to noon, ChoiceCenter Leadership University grads, their family and friends, played a 3-hour Giver Game to create hygiene and medical kits for survivors of this month’s earthquake, tsunami and nuclear power plant meltdown in Japan.
The goal was to collect 10,000 items in 3 hours. The group collected more than 16,000 in Las Vegas and thousands more in cities around the U.S. and Canada.
ChoiceCenter LV1World student Lisa Lindsley played with friends in her Bay Area home where they collected 11,000 items Saturday morning. Student Joey Abbott was speaking at a real estate conference in Florida and collected $510 to purchase supplies from those in attendance.
Donations to purchase items can still be made by clicking the button above. For a list of needed supplies, download the list here: TsunamiReliefList.pdf

On Saturday, August 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., the public was invited to join Miss Nevada Danielle Reimann and dozens of Giver Game volunteers in raising $5,000 in just one hour for humanitarian emergency relief in Somalia.
More than 12 million people – a number greater than the populations of Houston and New York city combined – are in danger of starvation in East Africa. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is calling the famine “the most severe humanitarian emergency in the world today.” To learn more, download faminerelief.pdf
Saturday’s make-a-difference stretch lasted just 1-hour but volunteers exceeded their $5,000 goal, raising $7,800 for famine relief, all donated to international relief and aid organization Oxfam International.
Giver Game is a volunteer philanthropy project developed by ChoiceCenter Leadership University that is the “Amazing Race” version of charitable giving. A Giver Game make-a-difference stretch occurs in a short window of time, proving that a small group of people can make a difference without spending a lot of time or money.
East Africa still needs our support. If you would like to donate, please visit our Oxfam donor page at: http://tinyurl.com/faminerelief All donations are tax deductible.
